Retail sales in October were $43.4 billion, up 0.1% from September and an increase of 1.9% from October 2014.  Excluding sales by motor vehicle and parts dealers and by gasoline stations, retail sales were up by 2.7% from October 2014.     Retail sales in volume terms were down 0.3% from September.  Increases in month-over-month sales were reported in 7 of 11 sectors representing 59% of retail trade.  October 2015 sales over October 2014 were  up in eight provinces.  British Columbia led the way with a 6.3% sales gain, followed by New Brunswick (+5.5%) and Ontario (+3.9%).  The two losses...

Wholesalers sold $54.7 billion worth of goods and services in October, down 0.6% from September but 1.6% higher than in October 2014.  Excluding the automotive sector, wholesale sales were up 1.4% from October 2014. In terms of volume, wholesale sales were down 0.6% in October from September. The Consumer Price Index rose by 1.4% in November compared with November 2014, after an annualized increase of 1.0% in October.      The CPI in November for goods was up 0.9% from a year earlier while the CPI for services rose 1.8%. Employment in November decreased by 35,700 from October.  The unemployment rate was  7.1%, up from 7.0% in October.  Construction employment was up 1.1% from October and manufacturing employment was up 1.0% from a month earlier. Municipalities issued $7.7 billion worth of building permits in October, up 9.1% from September and 3.3% higher than in October 2014.     Five provinces reported an increase in permits over a year ago.  Prince Edward Island recorded a 67.7% year-over-year gain while Alberta  posted a 37.8% increase.  The largest annualized losses occurred in Newfoundland and Labrador (-39.1%) and British Columbia (-31.7%).  Ontario reported an 11.4% annualized increase, while the year-over-year decline in Quebec was 11.0%.
