The Consumer Price Index rose by 1.0% in June compared with June 2014, after increasing 0.9% in May. The CPI in June for goods was up 0.2% from a year earlier while the CPI for services rose 1.9%. Gasoline prices decreased 14.1% from June 2014, after falling 17.4% in May. Wholesalers sold $54.5 billion worth of goods and services in May, down 1.0% from April but 2.9% higher than in May 2014. Excluding the automotive sector, wholesale sales were up 3.1% from May 2014. In terms of volume, wholesale sales were down 1.0% in May from April. Annualized wholesale sales grew in eight provinces. Municipalities issued $6.7 billion worth of building permits in May, down 14.5% from April and 3.6% lower than in May 2014. Two provinces reported an increase in permits over a year ago.
