started to get a premium for our logs
over the fall pricing. We believed we were
going to see some cedar shortages come
the spring and into the summer (even if
COVID-19 didn’t hit) as we usually do.
We were ready for it; but when COVID-19
and the government classified us an
        essential business, we were definitely
not ready for the unforeseen fast draw
on lumber products. It was great that
the government classified us an essential
business. It was a good decision to keep
the economy rolling. However, it put us
in unchartered waters. There’s no doubt
that all the retailers are busy. People
are staying home and spending their
money on home projects. They have the
time. The unforeseen surge in demand
for lumber products just outstripped the
        normal seasonal inventories available
from vendors. We’re going to be into this
shortage until the fall or early winter,
or maybe even longer, until suppliers
can play catch-up...hence the reason BC mills, much of which is due to the Forest Products and our loyal suppliers
