candidate to assume a marketing role at Air
Canada’s head office in Montreal.
After careful consideration, Greg joined
his father at Target with the proviso that
he learn the business from the ground
up. Since that day, he has worked virtually
every position at Target. The extensive
experience he gained has served Greg and
Target well. When Greg looks back at those
early days, he says he wouldn’t have had it
any other way. It provided the opportunity
to hone his people skills and learn about
the construction industry. Greg also spent
some time at Eastern Construction, a well
known leader in the industry.
Throughout these early years at Target,
Greg attended evening classes at the
University of Windsor where he was enrolled
in Business Administration. He has always
had a thirst for knowledge and is continually
upgrading his skills and urging his staff to
do likewise.
Since teaming up with his father in
1974, Greg has worked in warehouse/
delivery, inside counter sales, purchasing,
outside technical sales and he entered
the management side of the business in
the 1980s. In 1990, Greg became a full
partner with his father and he assumed the
presidency in 2000, when his father retired.
He became sole owner when he purchased
his father’s share of the business.
Much of the success Target has enjoyed
in the Essex and Kent counties can be traced
to the hard work and commitment Greg
has put into the procurement and sales

looking to improve how Target operates,
particularly reviewing purchasing habits
of customers and using the information
to position Target as the go-to supplier
for residential, industrial and commercial
building supply materials. Target is the
