architects who readily dropped in to the
lumber yard to find unique products for
their customers.
As well, other lumber yards sourced
many of his products and became a
major part of his sales strategy, as
they could purchase those uncommon
products in quantities that did not
meet truckload capacities. In talking to
Richard about his product offering, he
comments that Red Cedar, White Pine
and Douglas Fir timber are the core
products sold on a day-to-day basis.
However, the specialty products and
those with unique purposes needed
to be displayed in a manner that
demonstrated their aesthetic values.
Just prior to the pandemic hitting in
2020, he made the decision to open a
6,000 sq. ft. design centre that displayed
all the unique products the business
offered. He located it a couple of miles
away from the busy yard in a recently
opened business centre. They also
