While this winter has been long and cold, Jack Frost smiled on the LBMAO and provided a beautiful day for our adventures. Snow conditions were great and the Haliburton Forest has received a good amount of snow this year. Temps in the -4, to -6 range were perfect for the snow and not too cold for us riders. The Haliburton Forest is a 100,000-acre park which includes over 100 lakes and millions of trees. They have over 400 kms of groomed trails that were perfect for the members to tackle. This year we had a number of experienced snowmobile enthusiasts as well as a few first timers. The Forest has snowmobiles to rent if you don%u2019t own one, as well as gear. Our group had a few hiccups along the way (snowmobiles are very temperamental machines) but we explored the park and took in spectacular scenery. One of the riders had a moose meet him on the trail but they both passed each other without incident. The forest is home to moose, deer and wolves amongst other forest animals and birds. Lunch at the Boshkung Smokehouse is a special stop. Lots of laughter and stories were told this Snowmobile Day continued on page 21...
