OBITUARY
Bob was a lifelong resident of Renfrew, and proprietor at Wood Works
of Renfrew. He served as an executive and president of the Lumber and
Building Materials Association of Ontario (LBMAO). Known as a friend to
many in his community including those he skied and golfed with. Bob
was also a car and motor cycle enthusiast, and enjoyed time at the family
cottage.
Dave Campbell’s Reminiscences of Bob
It was with great sadness that I found out that Bob Lockwood had passed
away. He was a great friend and tireless supporter of the Association and an
active board member. I had the privilege of working with Bob when he was
the Chair of the Association 2012-13.
For those of us who got to know Bob, we recognized that he had a very
interesting sense of humor. Bob and I travelled together on Association
business several times and I can tell you I never stopped laughing at his
sometimes corny jokes and politically incorrect take on life. Yes, he was one
of a kind!
Bob thoroughly enjoyed a game of golf and had many friends local as
well as in the industry who he entertained on the golf course. Many a golf
tournament ended in the evening over a bottle of scotch with Bob and his
many friends sitting around a fire or in a cottage fixing all the problems of
Robert "Bob" Lockwood the world and the industry. After a few libations the jokes got wilder and
not for the weak hearted! You really needed a sense of humor to appreciate
Past LBMAO Chair Bob’s take on life.
Bob loved the building supply industry and owned and operated a
Wood Works of Renfrew lumber yard in Renfrew, Ontario until he sold the business and semi-retired.
To keep busy he delivered medications for local hospitals. As Bob would say,
” yep, I’m a drug dealer now! And livin’ the dream.”
