As we acknowledged our outgoing
Board members, we had the opportunity
to elect two new members to roles on the
Board. We would like to welcome Sam
Gerber of Earlton Country Store Inc. and
Paul Huffman from Talent Hunt to the
Board of Directors. We know they will add
their experience and valuable direction to
their new positions.
After the business portion of the AGM
had concluded, we had the opportunity
to socialize, network and enjoy an
exhilarating evening of horse racing as we
savoured a gourmet dinner overlooking
the track.
Our office administrator Gail did a
great job of organizing the evening, but
she failed to tell us what an expert she
was at handicapping the ponies. Gail won
several of her wagers but sadly none of
them paid off enough for her to retire in
the Caribbean. I was able to follow my
heart and put a few dollars on a horse
named Golden Boss. I asked our staff if
it was a sign that they thought I was the
golden boss. There was a fair number of
eyerolls when it was suggested that I was
the golden boss (see Gail's incredulous
face below), but regardless I put down a
few dollars on this horse which was aptly
named. It was a very exciting finish but, in
the end, Golden Boss was the winner.
