he LBMAO Eastern Golf Tourney kicked off our 2024
Tseason with a bang. Mother Nature was very cooperative
with sunshine beaming down on us for our first golf
tournament of the season, sponsored by Sexton Group Ltd.
Smuggler’s Glen Golf Course in Gananoque was the setting
for a great day of golf. A record number of players enjoyed
the spectacular 18-hole course, nestled on the shores of
the St Lawrence River. The challenging course was a worthy
obstacle for the LBMAO crew as we navigated the hills and
rocky outcrops.
The course was in perfect shape and gave everyone a
challenge. Suppliers and retailers used the day to talk some
business and some golf, but mostly the day is about getting
to know your customers. No other time of the year do you
have the undivided attention of someone where you can get
up to speed on how their business works, how their family is
doing and learn more about what makes them tick. Many of
our members have learned these golf outings are a great way
to build lasting relationships with customers. Customers buy
from people, not machines and this is a great way to get a leg
up on your competition and get closer to your customers.
Special thanks to our hole sponsors Dupont and Imperial
Kool-Ray for sponsoring the longest drive on the 15th hole.
Alex Knapper won it. The closest to the hole on the 10th
hole was sponsored by ACCEO. Dave Heffer won that prize.
BMR was the sponsor of the closest to the hole on number
16. That was won by Ryan Hickey. Best Distribution was the
sponsor for the longest drive on hole 7. Ryan Hickey also
won that prize. Our final prize was for the lady’s longest
drive. That was sponsored by Ideal Roofing and was won by
Brook Ziskos. Congratulations to all the winners!
The most outstanding golfers in the Eastern Tourney were
a foursome of Claude Gallant, Doug Keeling, Guy Quesnel,
and Craig Boyce. They turned in an amazing round of golf.
The day finished with a terrific steak dinner, and more
laughter amongst this great group. Lots of stories were told,
(some of them might even be true), but unless you attended
you missed a great day of networking with people in this
industry.
You still have more opportunities to join the LBMAO for
special golf outings this year. Our next tourney will be hosted
August 22nd at the amazing Hawk Ridge Golf Club in Severn
for our Muskoka Golf Tourney. Hawk Ridge is a terrific course
and I know you will be in for a great day. Our final golf outing
of the season will be at Echo Valley Golf Club in London on
September 5th.

events. Thanks also go out to everyone who attended the
Eastern Event. If you missed it, please plan to join us next
